CEREC technology allows you to leave the dental office with a new smile in just one visit!

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a type of computer-aided design (CAD) technology that improves the creation and design of dental prostheses. Procedures that require dental prostheses such as dental crowns, dental veneers, inlays and onlays can be completed in one appointment with a CEREC scanner and milling machine present in the office.

Why Choose CEREC?

Save Time

With traditional dental crowns, the tooth is prepared and a dental impression is taken of the tooth. This impression is sent out to a dental laboratory so that a permanent crown can be fabricated. It may take one to two weeks for the permanent crown to be ready to be cemented into place. With a CEREC dental crown, everything is done the same day in the same location. This saves you significant time since it does not require any follow-up visits.

Avoid discomfort

Since it can up to two weeks to have a permanent dental crown ready with traditional crowns, a temporary crown is usually placed. This crown may be a source of increased sensitivity and discomfort  until the permanent crown is placed. CEREC crowns avoid this issue because they are placed the same day.

Aesthetically pleasing

High quality tooth-coloured ceramic materials used by CEREC provide beauty and function in a way that closely matches the look and feel of your natural teeth.

High strength

Ceramic that is milled is stronger than traditional methods so you can rest assured that your new smile will stay strong and beautiful for years.

Biocompatible

Dental prostheses made with CEREC are free of metals and are compatible with the tissues in the mouth.

How does it work?

Once the tooth is prepared to receive the dental restoration, the prepared tooth and the nearby area is scanned. The results of the scan are transmitted to the CEREC machine. Your dentist is able to customize the restoration with CEREC technology to produce a restoration that will result in an exact fit and optimum function with the nearby teeth.
